02.3.2010 I Southern Maine CC 59, Central Maine CC 47


AUBURN- Rachel DelCamp scored a game-high 20 points and 14 rebounds to lead Southern Maine Community College over Central Maine Community College 59-47 to secure the Yankee Small College Confrence Chamionship on Sunday.

The Seawolves (15-8) closed the second half with a 20-8 run and lead 30-18 at the break. Despite closing the gap to six points, the Mustangs (15-6) never recovered and were limited to 25 percent shooting from the floor.

Katie Martin registered a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Tiera During drained 10 points and Tiffany Lougee scored six points and hauled down 11 rebounds.

Alisa Sweet tallied 16 points for the seawolves and Amanda Chandler added 15. 


 

03.3.2010 I Harris Named USCAA All Academic American; LeBlond Wins Three- Point Contest


CONCORD- The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) has honered NHTI, Concord's Community College women's basketball player Ashley Harris (Sandown) as an All Academic American.

This honor is given out to student athletes who perform exceptional on and off the court. Harris had been a standout student and athlete in her past two years at NHTI. In addition to playing on the women's basketball team, Harris annually also competes on the women's volley ball team.

Congratulations to Ashley for a job well done this season, keep up the good work!

In other news, Kevin LeBlond (Weare) has won the three-point contest at the USCAA National Basketball Tournament. Leblond competed against several other athletes from the 10 competing school's in the Men's DII USCAA National Basketball Tournament.

Kevin has been a threat from behind the three-point line all season long, and this was a great opportunity to showcase his talent in front of a national audience.

01.24.2010 I CMCC set to host YSCC Final Four


Auburn, ME - Central Maine Community College will be the host site for the 2009-2010 Yankee Small College Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Final Four.  The final four weekend will be February 19th to the 21st. 

The YSCC Final Four weekend will begin Friday, February 19th with a skills contest including a dunk contest, 3 point contest, and a foul shooting contest.  Following the skills contest will be a Yankee Conference Banquet to recognize the participating teams along with all-conference team selections and coach of the year.  The banquet will be hosted at the Ramada Inn in Lewiston, Maine.

Central Maine CC women's basketball team played Penn State-Beavers for their first game at the National Championships in Pennsylvania. They lost 79-53.


02.22.2009 I YSCC Final Four Champions Crowned


Women's Basketball: CMCC 59 - (H) SMCC 49

Men's Basketball: UMA 69 - (H) NHTI 67

Concord, NH- The Yankee Small College Conference(YSCC) final four championship games were held today at NHTI, Concord's Community College.

The women's championship match featured #2 Central Maine Downing #1 Southern Maine in the upset 59-49. SMCC had previously been undefeated in conference play this season.

The Mustang's of Central Maine were led by Tiffany Seams' 28 points and five rebounds. In addition Michelle Holmquist netted 11 points and had eight boards with three steals.

Rachel Del Camp led the Seawolves attack with 14 points and five rebounds. Darcey Webster nine points with six rebounds and two steals and Sonya O'Tash 11 points with eight rebounds and two steals also played strong.

Based on tournament performance Tiffany Seams was awarded the tournament MVP, Michelle Holmquist tournaments best offensive player, and Brittany Rich (SMCC) tournaments best defensive player.

#3 U-Maine Augusta held on to defeat #4 NHTI in the men's championship 69-67. Late game magic by UMA's captain Deon Cheers propelled them to the thrilling win.

Cheers had 21 points with 14 boards and six assists. Also for the Moose Herbie Davis netted 12 points, Moses Brathwaite added 21 points with 13 rebounds and LT Williams contributed 10 points with 10 rebounds and four steals.

For the Lynx Stephan Roberts (Orlando, FL) netted 11 points. Ben Higgins (Rochester) had 14 points, Peter Dargy (Laconia) sunk 14 points with three assists, and Martin Olivier (Manchester) added eight points with eight rebounds four assists and a block.

For their efforts in the tournament Deon Cheers was named as the tournament MVP, Moses Brathwaite tournaments best offensive player, and Martin Olivier tournaments best defensive player.


02.21.2009 Ι YSCC Final Four Semi-Final Results


Concord, NH- The semi-final round of the YSCC Final Four basketball tournament being held at NHTI, Concord's Community College featured several outstanding games and even an upset or two.

In women's acion #1 Southern Maine Community College held on to defeat #4 U-Maine Augusta 79-75. The Moose of UMA led at the half, but SMCC pulled away slightly in the second half to hammer home a win.

Rachel Del Camp paced the Seawolves with 17 points and nine boards. Also playing strong was Sonya O'Tash 17 points with 13 rebounds and four assists, Amanda Chandler added 16 points.

Jennifer Lola played stellar for UMA scoring 37 points and pulling in seven rebounds with four steals. In addition Marcie Moors added 15 points and seven rebounds, and Danielle White netted nine points with five boards.

In other women's action #2 Central Maine Community College downed #3 NHTI 75-44. The Mustangs of CMCC went 25 of 42 on the free throw line while the Lynx only shot seven of 19. CMCC was led by Michelle Holmquist with 14 points and 10 rebounds, also Katie Martin added 11 points with eight boards and four steals, and Danielle Hebert netted seven points and ripped in seven rebounds.

For the Lynx Jess Hardiman (Loudon) scored 10 points and Jonara Woodbury (Belmont) added 10 points and seven boards.

Sunday women's action will feature the YSCC championship game tipping off at noon. #1 SMCC will host #2 CMCC at NHTI.

Game one of the men's tournament showed off #3 U-Maine Augusta upsetting #2 Central Maine Community College 77-72. The Moose took a two point lead into the second half and never looked back as they came out victorious.

UMA was paced by powerhouse center Moses Brathwaite's 20 points and 21 boards, he also had two blocks. Deon Cheers added 13 point swith five boards and three steals, LT Williams netted 22 points and pulled in nine rebounds, and Dylan Hanscom contributed nine assists in the win.

The Mustang's were led offensively by Tyler Smithgall as he netted 28 points and 12 rebounds. Also Matt Scevior nailed 11 points with six assists, and Farrell Jean-Gilles added 16 points with four assists.

The men's nightcap squared #1 Vermont Tech against #4 NHTI; NHTI held on for the stunning 69-67 victory.

Stephan Roberts (Orlando, FL) led the Lynx with 16 points and five rebounds. Also playing strong was Jacob Lewis-Hamel (Concord) 14 points, Peter Dargy (Laconia) 14 points, and Martin Olivier (Manchester) 11 boards with four assists.

Sean Smith scored 23 and squeezed eight rebounds with three steals in the loss. Marquise King 13 points seven rebounds three assists and four steals, and Chris Taylor 16 points with six boards also had a strong game for the Green Knights.

Concord, NH- NHTI, Concord's Community College and the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) has announced the dates and match-up's for this years men's and women's final four basketball tournament play in games. The number three seeded NHTI women will host number six seeded Vermont Technical College on Tuesday at 7 PM. The winner of that game will advance to the YSCC final four basketball tournament being held at NHTI on February 21 and 22. In other women's action U-Maine Augusta will be hosting Hesser College in the other final four play in game. Southern Maine Community College and Central Maine Community College both receive byes and automatic bids in the final four tournament. The NHTI men's basketball team seeded at five will travel to arch rival and the number four seeded Hesser College on Wednesday night. The game will tip-off at 7 PM and the winner will advance to the YSCC final four hosted by NHTI. The other men's play in games will feature Southern Maine Community College hosting U-Maine Augusta. Central Maine Community College and Vermont Technical College both received byes and automatic final four bids. 02.17.09 I NHTI Prevails and Advances to Final Four


Women's basketball: (H) NHTI 53 - VTC 49

CONCORD, NH - The number three seeded NHTI, Concord's Community College women's basketball team (14-16) coached by Shelley Winters pulled out the close win over number six Vermont Tech 53-49.  Despite only shooting 22% for the game and not leading until the final minute the Lynx squeezed out a victory. 

Jess Hardiman (Loudon) led the Lynx  with 13 points six  rebounds and four steals.  In addition Jonara Woodbury (Belmont) added 11 points with eight boards and three steals and Joy Burge (Wilton) netted 10 points.

With the win the Lynx enter the Yankee Small College Conference Final Four as the number three seeded team and will face-off against the number two seeded Mustangs of CMCC on Saturday afternoon at 2 PM at NHTI.  For full YSCC final four coverage visit www.nhti.edu.

02.02.2009 | Final Four Hosted at NHTI-CCC


The YSCC Final Four will be held on the campus of New Hampshire Technical Institute, Concord's Community College.  The final four weekend will begin on Saturday, February 21with the women's semi-final games first 12:00pm and 2:00pm.  The men will follow at 4:00pm and 6:00pm.  The final YSCC Standings will be posted by Monday, February 16th.


12.19.08 | Final Standings of the Semester


The final standings of the 2008 fall semester have been decided after a heated battle between Southern Maine C.C. and Central Maine C.C.  Coming into the final game of the semester, both teams were undefeated in confernce play. CMCC had the lead at the half 34-32, but that wasn't going to deflate SMCC.  The second half proved to be a tough battle with SMCC coming out on top 68-65 awarding them the number one slot in the final standings.
