09.15.09 | UMA Downs Hesser

Manchester, NH - Willow Russel scored her first of two goals for UMA at the 20-minute mark and Jen Lola added 2 goals and an assist as UMA downed Hesser College 4-0 in the Yankee Small College Conference opener for both teams.

Russell's header from the six-yard box was assisted by Jessica Taylor, who headed it across the goal mouth to Russel, stationed at the far post. Danielle Fredtte's long throw-in initiated the play.

Jen Lola's first goal was a highlight reel tally. She fired a strike from 20-yards out from just outside the left portion of the 18-yard box with such spinning speed that it found its way between a two foot gap between the left post and Hesser's keeper, Christy Mann. Mann managed to get her fingertips on the all but the shot whistled by her.

Danielle Fredette and Ashley Peaslee added assists for the 1-1-1 Moose, completing their opening 3-game road trip.

Monique Moore, making her first start in net for the Moose, earned the shutout. She recorded 7 saves, 5 of those in the last ten minutes.

The Moose host YSCC rival SMCC, Thursday, September 17th at 4:00 PM.
