SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (YSCC) -The Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) is pleased to announce the addition of a new member, as confirmed by the YSCC Athletic Directors, in a unanimous 10-0 vote. Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) will become the newest full member of the conference effective for the 2020-21 academic year.
With the addition of ACPHS, the conference expands to 11 full time members spanning the states of Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, and New York. This expansion of membership is the first since 2011 when the YSCC accepted three new members.
YSCC Executive Board President Matt Richards is enthusiastic about the outlook for the conference. "The addition of ACPHS to the YSCC gives the conference strength in strategic planning and growth regionally. Many of our membership had strong ties to ACPHS making the addition to the conference a natural fit. Athletic Director Christine Kanawada has been a strong leader within the USCAA and has provided an excellent athletic offering to the ACPHS student athletes. I'm looking forward to working with ACPHS to shape the YSCC vision and offer increasing growth opportunities for our student-athletes."
"The Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Department of Athletics and Recreation is honored to have been accepted into the YSCC beginning in 2020," stated Kanawada. "We believe that their rich history as a conference, and in the USCAA, will help propel our athletic programs to the next level. We are excited for the level of competition and are confident that the YSCC's commitment to small college athletic programs will help provide a positive intercollegiate experience for our student-athletes."
