YSCC Baseball Championship field set following semifinal round

(YSCC) – Championship Saturday is set after games on Thursday at The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. 

York County CC eliminates UMaine Augusta in loser bracket
York County Community College advanced in the YSCC Baseball Tournament with a decisive 8-0 win over the University of Maine at Augusta in Thursday's elimination game. YCCC broke the game open with a five-run third inning that featured an RBI single by Jase Bade, a solo home run by Cameron Early, and multiple runs scored on an error. Maksim Masse earned the win with four shutout innings, while Andrew Gray closed the game with three scoreless frames. Jack Mattox, Bade, and Sullivan each drove in runs as YCCC played error-free defense and stole six bases.

Central Maine CC defeats Southern Maine CC to reach championship round
In the first semifinal, Central Maine Community College defeated Southern Maine Community College 5-2 to remain unbeaten in tournament play. CMCC capitalized on two early errors to score three unearned runs in the second inning and added insurance later in the game. Pitcher Teddy McFarland went the distance, striking out five while allowing just two runs. Lee Robertson paced the Mustangs with three hits and an RBI, while Cody Cleaveland added two hits. The win secured CMCC a place in Saturday's championship final.

Southern Maine CC bounces back to defeat YCCC in semifinal two
Southern Maine responded with an 8-5 win over YCCC in the day's second semifinal to stay alive in the tournament. Zach Oliver led the SeaWolves with four hits and four RBIs, helping SMCC recover from an early deficit and hold off a late YCCC rally. Cameron Early homered for the Hawks in the seventh, but SMCC's pitching and timely defense—including two double plays—secured the win. Dante Tocci earned the victory in relief.

The YSCC Baseball Championship will conclude on Saturday, May 3. CMCC, as the winner's bracket representative, needs one win to secure the title. SMCC must win twice to claim the championship.

  • Game 1: 10:00 a.m. – CMCC (home team) vs. SMCC

  • Game 2 (if necessary): 1:45 p.m. – Same matchup

The Ballpark opens to fans at 9 a.m. Admission is $7. Games will be streamed live for a $7 fee at ysccsportsnetwork.com.
