NHTI, CSJ set to play in USCAA National Championship Tournament
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The United States Collegiate Athletic Association has released brackets for the 2015 USCAA Men's Soccer National Championships and two Yankee Small College Conference teams will be making the trip to Asheville, North Carolina for the tournament, hosted by Warren Wilson College.
NHTI won an automatic bid to the tournament after defeating the College of Saint Joseph's, 3-0 in the YSCC Championship tournament last weekend. The Lynx finished the season with an overall record of 9-4-2 and a 6-2 record in conference action. Offensively, the team is led by Wayne Child, who finished in the top-five in scoring in the conference with 10 goals and 21 points. The Lynx enter tournament play as the number seven seed and will face off against the champion from the Penn State University Athletic Conference, who's title game will be played on November 1.
The Fighting Saints enter the tournament as the number eight seed after posting the top regular season record in the YSCC. CSJ finished with a 7-1 conference mark and an overall record of 10-6-1. The team is led offensively by Dominick Simpson, who ranked first in the conference in goals and points with 18 and 36, respectively.
The Fighting Saints will face off against the number nine seed, SUNY Delhi Broncos, who are making their first trip to the national tournament. Both NHTI and CSJ will play at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4th. For additional information, please visit the USCAA National Championship website.
