Pottersville, NY – The Word of Life Huskies opened their 2025 men's soccer season with a hard-fought 1–1 draw against Central Penn on Saturday afternoon at Huskies Field.
The Huskies struck early in the first half when forward George Rohrbaugh found the back of the net in the 12th minute. The goal came off a crisp setup from Henrique Borges, giving Word of Life a 1–0 lead and energizing the home crowd.
Word of Life's defense was tested throughout the match as Central Penn pressed with 22 total shots, including 11 on goal. Huskies' goalkeeper Raphael Cournoyer turned in a standout performance, recording 10 saves to preserve the advantage deep into the match.
The Knights finally broke through in the 89th minute, when Mark Haye capitalized on a pass from Isaac Melendez to equalize at 1–1. Despite the late setback, the Huskies held firm through the final whistle to secure the draw.
